A Thanksgiving Poem

Thankful for the gift of life
in His image God created.
Thankful for the ark of Christ
the flood of wrath abated.

Thankful for the blessed promise
like grains of sand and starry sky.
Thankful that God dwelt among us
that life may live and death may die.

Thankful for the sea divided
passing through from slave to son.
Thankful for the Lamb provided
a Temple built, a Kingdom won.

Thankful for a Body broken
bringing forth the Bread of Life.
Thankful “It is finished” spoken
the harlot has become the Wife.

Thankful for the Father’s hand
that crushes us into sweet wine.
Thankful that at His command
the King will come with joy divine.
