A Christmas Poem

The God-man entombed in a virgin’s womb
A cov’ring for infinite glory.
All history gave way to eternity’s sway;
A Savior stepped into the story.

A story not new but woven into
The fabric of all of creation,
Since Adam first grasped through the lies of an asp
A knowledge not yet His dominion.

All children are we from Adam’s dead tree
Hearts black as that Bethlehem night
More Herod than wise we quickly despise
The King come to set things aright.

But this is the King of all other kings
Sent by God; confirmed by the Spirit
Through humility and death on a tree
He came not to seek peace but to win it.

Through Abraham’s Seed all nations bent kneed
Will be swept up in glorious song
And the same One who chose to redeem me His foe
Will make everything right that was wrong.
