I want to greet you on this Lord’s Day in the name of our Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In Psalm 90:14 the Psalmist says, “O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” Notice he does not seek the satisfaction of the Lord when all his other means have been exhausted. He does not come at the end of the day when everything in himself has been spent. He comes in the morning. He comes seeking to be satisfied in God first. To be satisfied with God’s faithful love in the morning means that there is no need to be satisfied with anything else throughout the day. It is a lasting satisfaction that overflows into songs of joy and gladness.
This is why the Triune God has called His people together today. He is a God who not only comes behind us in our time of need, but He is a God who goes before us, at the beginning of the day, before any need or trouble or temptation ever arises. Let us come before Him today as a satisfied people who have tasted the goodness and faithfulness of God in Christ Jesus. May He pour out His Spirit into our hearts that we would overflow with songs of joy and gladness in this place. AMEN!
